
BIOGRAPHY
"I'm very grateful to be a saxophone player. Music gives me not only good friends but also numerous pleasure memories with them."
Ken started learning saxophone at 13, shortly after, he won the saxophone competition in Hong Kong Schools Music Festival at 16. In the same year, he became the soloist for an original composition during the New Generation Hong Kong Youth Composers Competition. Also, he participated in the school symphonic band which was the winners in school band competitions in Music Office Winds Festival and Hong Kong Schools Music Festival.
Though out Ken received the following qualifications in music:
- Associate Diploma of the London College of Music, Jazz Saxophone in Performance (ALCM Diploma, Full Marks)
- Diploma of the London College of Music, Jazz Saxophone in Performance (DipLCM Diploma)
- The Associated Board of the Royal School of Music (ABRSM) Grade 8 certificate with distinction in Alto Saxophone,
- Trinity Guildhall Grade 8 certificate with merit in Jazz Tenor Saxophone.
- Grade 8 certificate with merit in ABRSM music theory examinations
He received his Bachelor degree and Master degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). Though he chose another profession in academic study, he devoted his life in music and he is now an active saxophonist in Hong Kong.
Over the years, he participated and performed with different bands and orchestras including Saturday Night Jazz Orchestra, Island Express Jazz Orchestra, Happy-Go-Lucky Big Band, Basic Notes Jazz Big Band, BigBand Express, Anthony Fernandez Big Band, Tom Lee Symphonic Band, Hong Kong Symphonic Band and Orchestra. He performed with these groups or as a soloist in various events and venues including Fringe Club, Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Hong Kong City Hall, Hong Kong Art Centre, Hong Kong Coliseum, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Big Band Madness 2018 in TaiPei
Ken now leads his own saxophone big band and frequently participates in various charity functions including “The Hong Society for the Blind 60th Anniversary Celebration Event” and “International Volunteer Day Award Ceremony” hosted by Agency for Volunteer Service. In 2013, The group was received “The 5th Hong Kong Volunteer Award – Certificate of Merit” presented by Agency for Volunteer Service.
